Audience: School IT administrators
Requirements: Google Admin console access, Modmath Enterprise license
Overview
Modmath Enterprise is a web app. There is nothing to install from the Play Store or Chrome Web Store. Deployment consists of pushing a managed web shortcut to student devices and configuring managed sign-in through Google Admin.
Step 1. Confirm your license
Before deploying, sign in to the Modmath Admin Portal at app.modmath.com/admin (coming soon) and confirm your license is active and your student seats are configured.
Step 2. Create an Organizational Unit for Modmath students
If you do not already have a dedicated OU for students using Modmath Enterprise, create one in Google Admin.
- Go to Directory > Organizational units
- Create a new OU (for example: Students > Modmath)
- Move the relevant student accounts into this OU
This allows you to scope the Modmath Enterprise shortcut and any policy settings to the right group of students without affecting others.
Step 3. Push the Modmath web app shortcut
For Chromebooks:
- Go to Devices > Chrome > Apps and extensions
- Select the target OU
- Click the + icon and choose Add by URL
- Enter: https://app.modmath.com
- Set installation policy to Force install
- Save
The Modmath Enterprise icon will appear on student Chromebooks automatically on next sign-in or policy refresh.
For Android tablets:
- Go to Devices > Mobile and endpoints > Apps
- Click Add app > Web app
- Enter: https://app.modmath.com
- Set to Required for the target OU
- Save
The shortcut will be pushed to managed Android tablets and appear on the home screen.
Step 4. Configure managed sign-in (recommended)
To allow students to sign in using their managed Google accounts:
- Go to Devices > Chrome > Settings > Users and browsers
- Select the Modmath OU
- Under Sign-in settings, confirm managed Google accounts are enforced
- Students will be prompted to sign in with their school Google account on first launch
Students can also sign in with a a managed Apple email, or a standard email address. Students signing in with an email address will need to set a password for their account.
Step 5. Verify deployment
- Sign in to a test student device in the target OU
- Confirm the Modmath Enterprise shortcut appears
- Launch Modmath and verify the student can sign in and access the correct school dashboard
Troubleshooting
Shortcut not appearing
Policy changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate. You can force a policy refresh by running gpupdate in the Chrome browser shell or restarting the device.
Student cannot sign in
Sign in to the Admin Portal at app.modmath.com/admin (coming soon) and confirm the student's email address is rostered and their seat is enabled. Students will not be able to access Modmath until both conditions are met.
Google SSO not working
Verify that the student Google account is active and that your domain has not restricted third-party app access. Check Security > API controls > App access control in Google Admin.
