Important: This article is for the new release of Modmath Enterprise scheduled for this summer. Modmath Admin is not available for the current version.
Prerequisites
Estimated setup time: 10–20 minutes. Before you begin, make sure you have the following ready:
- Admin Console access at admin.google.com with Super Admin or Devices Admin privileges
- Your student Chromebooks enrolled and managed in your Google Workspace domain
- Your Modmath Admin Site credentials received by email after sign up
Step 1 - Set Up Your Modmath Admin Account
Before deploying to devices, your Modmath admin account needs to be completed, and you must purchase seats for your students. To start, click the magic link you received in your email to login to admin.modmath.com.
- Complete account setup - you must change your password and add a two factor authentication (2FA) method. Follow the on screen prompts.
- Purchase seats - after your account setup is complete, purchase seats by clicking the purchase seats button. If you are paying by credit card or ACH, click the pay now button. If you require an invoice in order to generate a PO, click the get quote button. An email with an invoice will be sent to you with further instructions on how to pay.
- Roster users - after your payment is complete you will have access to the roster users section of Modmath Admin. Add individual user by entering an email address in the form field and clicking the activate button. To add multiple users from a CSV click the Upload CSV button. Each student requires one field only: their school issued email address. Each imported student consumes one seat from your license. Your remaining seat count is shown at the top of the Users page.
- If you need to remove a student at any point, you can suspend or delete their account by clicking the suspend or delete buttons. Suspension frees up a seat license. Deletion frees up a seat license and deletes this student's account entirely from our database. The seat is immediately returned to your pool and can be reassigned.
- Download the Modmath icons - click the download Modmath icons button from the Users page. You will use these icons in Google Admin so that Modmath displays correctly in the Chrom shelf.
Step 2 - Sign In To Your Google Admin Console
- Open your browser and go to admin.google.com. Sign in with your administrator Google Workspace account.
- From the Admin Console home, navigate to Devices -› Chrome -› Apps & Extensions -› Users & Browsers.
Step 3 Create or Select Your Organizational Unit (OU)
- In the left panel, select the Organizational Unit that contains your student accounts. If your district has multiple schools, you can select a parent OU to cover all of them at once, or deploy to individual school OUs separately.
- If you want precise targeting, create a dedicated OU for Modmath Enterprise students and move the relevant accounts into it. Deploying to a parent OU will push Modmath to all child OUs.
- Verify your scope before proceeding.
Step 4 - Add Modmath As A Managed Web App
- Click the yellow + button at the bottom right of the screen and choose Add from URL. Enter: https://app.modmath.com
- When prompted, enter Modmath Enterprise as the app name. You'll also want to upload the Modmath icon so it appears correctly in the Chrome shelf. The Modmath icon is downloadable from the User page in Modmath Admin. If you did not download the icons in Step 1 you can do so now. Click Save once Modmath has been added.
Step 5 - Configure Installation Settings
Click on Modmath in your app list to open its settings panel. We reccommend the following:
- Installation policy: Force install. This silently deploys Modmath to all devices in the OU with no student action required.
- Pin to shelf: On. Modmath will appear in the Chrome shelf on every student Chromebook.
- Open as window: On. Gives users a clean full-screen app experience.
Step 6 - Save And Push
- Click Save in the top right. Google will immediately begin propagating the policy to all managed Chromebooks in the selected OU.
- Online devices will receive Modmath within 2–5 minutes. Offline devices will receive it the next time they connect and sync, typically within 15 minutes of coming online. New Chromebooks enrolled into the same OU will receive Modmath automatically at setup.
There is nothing for students to do. Modmath will appear on their shelf silently.
Step 7 - Verify On A Test Device
On a managed Chromebook in the target OU, sign in with a test Google account that exists in your Modmath user list in Modmath Admin. After policy sync, verify the following:
- The Modmath icon appears in the Chrome shelf or app launcher
- Clicking it opens Modmath in its own window
- The app loads directly into the student experience. There is no paywall, no purchase prompt, no account creation screen
If a paywall or sign-in error appears, check that the user’s email address is correct and has been added and saved in the User view in Modmath Admin. Submit a ticket if the issue persists.
You’re All Set
Modmath is now live for your students. The app updates automatically, there is no ongoing IT maintenance required. To add or remove students, manage your roster anytime at admin.modmath.com.
